i experienced the tea party that got excited very much!!! at shinjyuku 17/07/07

婆娑羅茶会 (basara cha kai)
is 大名 Daimyo's 闘茶 (tou cha -Tea Fight party-) in 室町 Muromachi age in japan.


婆娑羅茶会 Basara cha kai became popular between in the 南北朝 Nanboku-cho age and the 室町 Muromachi age in Jappan.
The meaning of 婆娑羅 Basara is the super-gaily and extreme.
Moreover, it is a meaning of diamond of the Sanskrit word(vajra) according to wikipedia.
A true meaning is not understood well.

Afterwards,千利休 Sen-no-rikyu made japanese tea ceremony(茶の湯 Cha-no-yu)
that is quiet simplicity and austere(in japanese 侘び寂び wabi-sabi).

婆娑羅茶会 Basara Cha kai did not have wabi-sabi elements at all.
大名s do 闘茶 as gambling putting theirs territory.

It is a joke that I experienced this time.
But there were people who had really bet the teacup!

Drunk sitting on a chair!(i was very surprised.)like the wine party in Portugal.
(I 've heard that the custom of entertaining tea in Japan mimicked the wine party in Portugal. )
At firest drink a tea of default. After that drink 3 cups of tea.
And answer respectively that tea of default or not.

I heard that sometimes fighting by 50 cups or more.
Default tea was called 本茶 hon-cha (true tea)
and not default tea was called 非茶 hi-cha (not true tea).
This gambling place was called ポンピ所 Pompi -jyo from 本茶 hon-cha and 非茶 hi-cha.(hon+hi=pompi)
婆娑羅 Basara prohibited in 建武式目 kemmu-shikimoku that enacted
by 足利尊氏 Ashikaga Takauji and ポンピ所 was closed in 1336.
And the Japan's tea developed into 茶の湯 Cha-no-yu .
I think that 茶の湯 is to be needed by very limit people
who live on border of life and death like 戦国武士 sengoku-bushi.
They do 茶の湯 for own relief and concentration of own mind.
It differs quite from 婆娑羅 Basara.
So I think that 茶の湯 doesn't suit easygoing me .

Howevere , it can be said お抹茶 o-matcha (Rubbed green tea) remains now how from China
when transmitting cha because 茶の湯 established.
The tool of tea at the dawn is decorated in 香港茶具文物館 Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware
in Central Hong Kong.
But these were tools of 茶の湯 cha-noyu in Japan.
Has not those days' tools to be have found easily any longer in China?
Anyway, お抹茶 o-mat-cha of Japan is very unusual on worldwide.

Even if 茶の湯 was not invented, did the Japanese keep liking お抹茶?
I can only imagine it because I grew up with 煎茶 sen-cha (japanese green tea).

I felt tea of Japan falling energy , sweetness and tannin very strong compared with 中国茶 chinese tea.

I do not know tea of Kyoto so much.
I don't want only brand power like some shops in kyoto,
I want to go directly to 宇治田原町 Ujitawara-machi and to drink tea.
